For more than twenty-five years of experience in the New Evangelization field, our team of lay people and catholic priests – obedient to the great mandate of Jesus – deals with the formation to the New Evangelization, with the aim of announcing Christ who is the source and foundation of the evangelization of all times.

Center Kerygma International aims to be the response to the plea of the Catholic Church for the New Evangelization, a place where, through an active- participatory methodology, preaching has the intention and the objective to form evangelizers with a kerygmatic mentality.

In this way, service is being offered to dioceses, parishes, pastoral operators, groups and ecclesial movements that wish to announce with great spiritual power Jesus Christ alive, the same yesterday, today and forever. (Heb 13,8).

Through biblical-experiential courses, a strong experience of God’s love is proposed to the “New Evangelizers” with the aim both of renewing the personal attachment to Christ and growing in the knowledge of faith.

The methodology of the courses allows the formation of teams capable of reproducing the courses themselves in their own ecclesial reality, so as to promote the beneficial effects of the kerygmatic announce.

What is it?

What is this initiative about?

Thus, Center Kerygma aims to offer:

  1. Courses and experiences of kerygmatic evangelization.
  2. Pastoral and spiritual formation to the kerygmatic announce.
  3. Growth and formation in the faith.
  4. A meeting point for movements, associations, groups and ecclesial realities that intend to evangelize starting from the first announcement.
  5. The beauty of the unity of the Church that listens, welcomes and proclaims the Word of God, valuing the charisms of the communities to bring the message of salvation to all the women and men loved by the Lord.

How does it help?

In what way does this initiative enhance the formation of the laity?

Through the courses of evangelization, lay people are being offered a strong experience of God, the effective opportunity to renew their personal attachment to Christ and to grow in the knowledge of faith so as to feel capable of and encouraged to reproduce the courses in their own ecclesial realities, so they become operators that are convinced, authoritative and active in evangelization.

Thus, a biblical, spiritual and complete formation is implemented to become evangelizers, faithful witnesses of God’s Word, which gives the necessary tools to be helped and help those that the Lord calls to the light of salvation.

Why is it important?

Why is this initiative important for the training and advancement of the laity in your country?

Together with the “outgoing Church, community of missionary disciples” (EG 24) we welcome the Pope’s intuition “the joy of the Gospel fills the hearts and lives of those who meet Jesus” (EG 1) and we feel committed to New Evangelization to proclaim the Gospel, recognizing above all the eternal newness that can accompany humanity today “in all its processes, however hard and prolonged they may be” (EG 24).

In this time, it appears increasingly urgent to rediscover a kerygmatic mentality such as to awaken the faith, through an active-participatory methodology, in the light of God’s saving message, to better communicate the announcement with the contribution of new prepared evangelizers, fervent and fruitful witnesses of the Church, a place of God’s mercy and hope, where everyone can feel welcomed, loved, forgiven, encouraged to live in joy according to the new life of the Gospel.

Our proposal is to make the Kingdom of God better known (Lk 4:43): ” To the extent that he reigns within us, the life of society will be a setting for universal fraternity, justice, peace and dignity” (EG 180). Only in this way will it be possible to realize communion and familiarity with the Lord, to enter his own divine life, where one can experience the full joy of his love without measure.

The experiential biblical courses are proposed to the “New Evangelizers” with a view to seeking the Kingdom of God and his justice (Mt 6:33). Jesus’ plan is to establish the Kingdom of his Father; He asks his disciples: “Preach, saying that the kingdom of heaven is near” (Mt 10,7). “If we are evangelizers, it is above all because Jesus told us:” In this my Father is glorified: that you bear much fruit “(Jn 15: 8). Beyond our understanding and our motivations, we evangelize for the greater glory of the Father who loves us “(EG 267) and who in his crucified Son Jesus makes us “the people of God” (1Pt 2:10).

With a well-formed laity, new conscious evangelizers can be formed for a new evangelization and one can become credible witness to give answers to the questions of man of this time, in the continuous search, mostly underground, for the love of God, which satisfies all hunger and quenches all thirst.

How did it start

How was this initiative developed?

The Center Kerygma was officially born in November 2013, but many of its members have a long experience in the field of evangelization and experiences in various ecclesial movements, associations and parish communities. In this process, at first some isolated courses were born, but over the years and with the experience of many collaborators, the three evangelization projects that form the backbone of the performative path of the Kerygma Center were structured: Youth Project (young people who evangelize young people), Family Project (for family evangelization) and Kairos Project (for the formation of adults).

Benefits

Does it benefit the laity on a national or local level?

Our three evangelization projects start from a personal encounter with Jesus and then continue with an experiential kerygmatic catechesis and a biblical and spiritual formation that encourage a growth in faith and a growth of communities. It is good because it helps to understand the meaning of life of those who recognize themselves in the experience of the proposed faith, accept to question themselves and begins a journey in the light of the Word of God, which leads to liberation, healing and salvation. In this way we can better face the difficulties and obstacles of the world, strengthening faith and feeling part of the family of God, within the community reality where we live.

Means and funding

Who funds the initiative? What is needed to launch this initiative?

The Center Kerygma is essentially based on voluntary activities; the costs of the events and materials are covered by the fees required for participation and by limited fundraising activities.

It is supported through voluntary donations and a contribution of eight per thousand from the diocese of Ragusa, where the Center Kerygma is based.

Each evangelization course includes a manual, requires a local team, the preparation of the place where the course will take place and the material necessary for the realization of the evangelization courses.
