The Pilipino Movement for Transformational Leadership (PMTL) is a coalition of various Christian faith-based organizations from the Catholic, Evangelical and Protestant communities. The conveners decided to come together in unity to do God’s work in the political field, by providing a mechanism for our combined memberships, as well as the people in general, so they could be appropriately guided in choosing and electing honest, competent, dedicated & God-centered servant leaders who can lead our country towards national transformation in accordance with God’s teachings and the principles of good governance.

What is it?

What is this initiative about?

PTML is a coalition of various Christian faith-based organizations from the Catholic, Evangelical and Protestant communities.

How does it help?

In what way does this initiative enhance the formation of the laity?

PMTL helps elect honest candidates to the forefront of the country who believe in the same ideals and beliefs as the people. The joint and collective efforts of such a coalition can make way to elect honest, competent, strong-willed servant leaders who can transform and build your country in accordance to God’s plan. A coalition like PMTL also gives the laity a chance to have bigger and more important voice within their country, and make them stronger in their faith and beliefs.

Why is it important?

Why is this initiative important for the training and advancement of the laity in your country?

We believe that a good Christian must be a good voter and a good citizen. As our core values, we believe in

1) God-centered, honest, competent, committed, strong-willed, servant leadership
2) good governance
3) common good
4) inclusive democracy
5) inclusive economy and
6) equal opportunities for all

We advocate against corruption, political dynasties, monopolistic and oligarchic control of business, opportunities, land ownership, natural resources as well as nepotism, favoritism in appointments and political accommodations, among others.

How did it start

How was this initiative developed?

In the Philippines, Christianity seems to be losing to predatory capitalism, greed, and lust for power. Signs of un-christianity are everywhere, and we believe that the biggest part of the problem lies with leadership. If we are able to elect better leaders, especially servant leaders who are competent and truly dedicated to the common good, the situation of our country and people would greatly improve.

Thus, BCBP (Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen & Professionals), CFM (Christian Family Movement), Familia Community, FTCC (Federation of Transparochial Charismatic Communities), LNP (Ligaya ng Panginuon), IFP (Intercessors for the Philippines), PJM (Philippine Jesus Movement), UMC (United Methodist Church), among others joined together launched PMTL or the Pilipino Movement for Transformational Leadership on 15 September 2015.

Benefits

Does it benefit the laity on a national or local level?

Our immediate goal is to raise an army of millions of genuine Christian voters, within our ranks or among our combined memberships, who will all use our agreed or common voters’ guide -the GabayKristo -in selecting the most qualified leaders for our people.

GabayKristo is the PMTL’s agreed common criteria or voter’s guide composed of twenty (20) specific questions. It helps the laity and the people of the Philippines understand what it takes to be a genuine Christian voter.

Means and funding

Who funds the initiative? What is needed to launch this initiative?

We have received endorsements from Bishops, priests, pastors and media outlets run by Catholic and Evangelical churches.
